Opus Supplies Peregrino CFU

Opus Maxim Ltd, has recently secured its fourth international Compact Flotation Unit (CFU) project after being awarded the contract by Houston-based company, J Ray McDermott Engineering, to supply a single, skid mounted unit, for treating produced water onboard the Maersk-owned Peregrino FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessel.

The contract - worth around £1million - to supply the equipment for the offshore Brazil-based Peregrino will see Opus further extend its international reach, as it is the first project the firm has undertaken in this region.

Opus will be responsible for the above scope, with the company designing, testing, inspecting and installing the unit - which will involve Opus' personnel commissioning the CFU onboard the Peregrino - ahead of scheduled completion in December 2008.

Nigel Weir, managing director of Opus Maxim, says the company's growing expertise in CFU technology has become a key focus over recent years and is very pleased this fourth contract has been secured.

He said: "To have been awarded our fourth major international CFU contract is an extremely positive development for Opus.

"A growing number of companies are recognising our CFU technology is particularly well suited for FPSOs, since the design ensures the rocking motion experienced onboard vessels doesn't affect the separation process.

"We are also particularly pleased to once again be expanding our worldwide client base with the securing of this - our first CFU contract in the Brazilian offshore region."
