Key Appointment at Opus

30.10.2008

Alan Dundas, 40, has taken up the position at the Opus Environmental Laboratories, on the island of Flotta, Orkney.

The laboratories - which specialise in the development and production of key environmental data required for chemical regulations - are equipped to offer a wide range of marine and freshwater toxicity testing using experienced and committed personnel.

As a senior manager, Alan will be responsible for the successful operation of the business and for expanding it into new markets, both domestically and internationally.

He brings an impressive wealth of experience to the role, with an oil industry background and most recently held positions with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), working with the organisation as an Environment Protection Officer, before taking on the role of Senior Policy Officer for waste prevention and finally Senior Environment Protection Officer.

Alan, who is married with two children and lives in Orphir, Orkney, says he is looking forward to the fresh challenges which lie ahead of him in his new role.

He said: "This is an exciting opportunity for me and I am thrilled to be joining such a successful and truly dynamic firm. I look forward to playing my part in assisting Opus in expanding and developing into new markets and contributing to the future success of the company."

Nigel Weir, managing director of Opus, added: "We are extremely pleased to announce Alan's appointment. With his extensive knowledge and impressive experience within the industry, I've no doubt he will quickly become a valuable member of our talented team here on Flotta and an important asset to Opus."
