Specialised North Sea Project

27.04.2010

Opus has completed a detailed fluids analysis onboard the Foinaven FPSO (Floating Production Storage & Offloading) vessel, which is operated by international energy company, BP, West of the Shetland Islands.

The contract involved Opus engineers conducting a series of tests on the Foinaven’s wells, to monitor their performance under a range of conditions.

The project, which took five days to complete, saw Opus personnel analyse the separator at baseline and simulated subsea conditions, as part of a comprehensive study to determine the feasibility of increased throughput, utilising subsea separation.

Glen McLellan, Opus’ Engineering Manager, commented: “Completing this specialised project for a major operator once again reinforces Opus’ position as industry leaders in produced water treatment.

“The work provided our talented personnel with the opportunity to demonstrate our experience and expertise in a number of areas, including produced water studies and fluids’ analyses, and we were pleased to deliver the relevant, detailed data so successfully.”
