OPUS SECURES FOLLOW UP CONTRACT IN AZERBAIJAN

28.10.2013

Opus is designing and fabricating new internals for a degasser on a BP-operated platform in Azerbaijan.

The work, worth nearly £140,000, on the East Azeri platform in the Caspian Sea, follows a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study last year. The contract will last 14 weeks and it is hoped it will be the first of three or four identical degasser upgrades in the region.

The CFD study provides oil companies with a detailed understanding of how fluid dynamics has an impact on their process efficiency and how it can contribute to substantial improvements in productivity. The results feed into recommendations that form the basis of Opus’ consultancy work.

Nigel Weir, Opus Managing Director, said: “This work, following directly on from the CFD study, shows we deliver results when it comes to problem solving and helping improve production.”
